The Liu Gongdao Sino-Japanese War Memorial, located in Weihai, Shandong Province, was the base of the Beiyang Fleet, China's first modernized navy (Qing Dynasty), and the site of the Sino-Japanese War of 1894-1895. It covers an area of approximately 200,000 square meters.

The Liu Gongdao Sino-Japanese War Memorial is spread over nearly 100 square kilometers, encompassing Liu Gongdao Island, Ri Island, and the north and south banks of Weihai Bay. It showcases the military achievements of the Self-Strengthening Movement, stands as a testament to its rise and fall, serves as crucial evidence of the Sino-Japanese War, and provides vital historical artifacts for studying Japanese aggression in China.

On January 13, 1988, the Liu Gongdao Sino-Japanese War Memorial was designated as a third-batch national key cultural relic protection unit by the State Council of the People's Republic of China.

The Liu Gongdao Sino-Japanese War Memorial comprises 28 sites, distributed across Liu Gongdao Island, Ri Island, and the north and south banks of Weihai Bay, covering nearly 100 square kilometers.

Liu Gongdao Island (17 sites): Beiyang Navy Admiral's Yamen, Dragon King Temple and Theatre, Ding Ruchang's Residence, Weihai Naval Academy, Coal Depot, Torpedo Repair Factory, Machine Bureau, Engineering Bureau, Liu Gong Temple, Naval Hospital Ruins, Stone Wharf, Iron Wharf (including Wharf Management House), Majiangzi Dry Dock, Huangdao Fort, Gongsuo Rear Fort, Qiding Mountain Fort, Yingmendong Fort, Nan Zui Fort Ruins, Donghong Fort (including Donghong Fog Fort Ruins), Telegraph Office and Lighthouse Ruins.

Ri Island (1 site): Ri Island Fort.

South Bank of Weihai Bay (8 sites): Goubei Dry Dock (including Ammunition Depot), Lujiaozui Fort Ruins, Zaobumuzui Fort Ruins, Qidun Ruins, Suocheng North Fort Ruins, Yangfengling Fort Ruins, Motanling Fort, Artillery Camp Ruins.

North Bank of Weihai Bay (2 sites): Beishan Zui Fort (including Signal Station), Huangnigou Fort Ruins.

Among the sites of the Liu Gongdao Sino-Japanese War Memorial, the Beiyang Navy Admiral's Yamen, Ding Ruchang's Residence, Dragon King Temple and Theatre, Weihai Naval Academy, Huangdao Fort, Gongsuo Rear Fort, Qiding Mountain Fort, and Donghong Fort are the most renowned.
